Animal Ambulance

At the start of the new year, Delaware County Animal Control started an animal rescue. The Animal
Ambulance, a donated truck and an all volunteer staff, was more than five years in the makings. Its available
24 hours a day seven days a week to all of Delaware County.

On Police Radio they are known as
4179-1. They can be dispatched from Fire Radio, Police Radio, or can be
called directly by the homeowner at
610-522-1113.

The team has undergone special training such as animal CPR and first aid, to handle injured animals in any
situation.

The ambulance hit the street January 1st, 2003 with minimal equipment. The company is looking for any
donations from fire and ambulance companies, as well as veterinarians. If anyone can donate unused
equipment and/or supplies, please call
610-522-1113. Equipment such as an FIO2 bottle and regulator are
needed, but anything will be appreciated.

This wonderful lady and her dog was going for a
walk down the street when suddenly her dog
stepped on the part of her lease with the clip,The
clip when in between the dog's toes and before she
knew it the foot was starting to swell and bleed.
She called the police of course the police did not
know what to do,(Not their fault are not trained for
this) But they did do the right thing a call the animal
ambulance. We arrived within minutes and were
able to free the dog from the excruciating pain right
there on the scene. She posed for her dog for this
picture so we can show how grateful she was.
Were happy to say that not
all dogs go directly to the
SPCA,, some of our police
departments are willing to
hold on to them for a short
time.
Unfortunately this is not new for us, we were
called to the small town of Marcus Hook this
was a couple of years ago so we are able
okay to print it. It took over a week to
remove over 100 cats from this one home.
Once the cats was sickly with lots of
diseases and very very poor conditions as
you can see from the picture. We were told
the summary lived in this house up to the
time we got to want to go in.

because if you see something here is
something that you don't think is right

happening again please report it. And if
the officer doesn't listen reported again,
and again until someone does.
This is one of our officers, educating the
public  on a Red tailed hawk that was in
distress after he saved it from harm. We
always like to take the time to show the
public the nature that we come across
and explain why they should not touch it
and what they should do if they come
across the  animal. Always remember a
wild animal can be dangerous.
